"You wouldn't think that you need experts to tell you if and how walking is good for you, but we were surprised at how full of contemplative practices and vision these 200 pages were."

Tai chi instructor and Aikido black belt Gelb (coauthor, The Healing Organization: Awakening the Conscience of Business To Help Save the World) and movement artist and educator Fertman (Teaching by Hand, Learning by Heart) offer this book filled with lovely reminders to walk to embrace the world around oneself. Their book begins with a discussion about the physical and mental benefits of walking and how posture plays into moving comfortably. They urge walkers to find inspiration from their surroundings. For example, a walk might help refuel or spark creative thinking. The book also recommends that readers walk with intention and with family and friends to form better bonds and connections. For readers who are solo walkers, the book suggests that they open themselves up to meeting new people along the way. The book also includes ideas and a how-to for effectively grounding oneself in nature. VERDICT This book will delight readers seeking spiritual and emotional guidance for walking with health, happiness, and other benefits in mind.--Elizabeth Majka
